Young Adult Novel in Progress
My major project at this time is a Young Adult novel with the working title of "Snow in San Clarita." Here are draft liner notes:
Just before Christmas, ten years ago, Jo’s mom went to California, leaving her behind. Now 18, Jo continues to take care of her alcoholic Dad while regularly helping herself to his well-stocked liquor cabinet. After her mother sends a Christmas card with a picture of her new baby, Jo vows to confront her. The only person who gets her life is Ellison, Jo’s best friend. He never knew his Dad, which Jo assures him is better anyway, but Ellison has always wondered, and may have a lead on his whereabouts. The two set out on a cross-country journey to find and cope with their absent parents. In the process, they come to grips with the realities of their circumstances and choices, as well as those of others. They learn that love and family aren’t always a decision, but that they can be.
